Karachi: On Thursday, December 5, 2024, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) for the inauguration ceremony of the Prof. Hashmat Lodi Youth Development Center.
The VIPs at the occasion included Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, Vice Chancellor of SMIU, along with CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Vice Chancellor of NED University Dr. Sarosh Lodi, Chairman of Sindh HEC Dr. Tariq Rafi, and family members of Hashmatullah Lodi.
The Development Center was established by SMIU with the help of HEC in the name of the prominent educationist Hashmatullah Lodi. The vision of the center is to foster development for students.
CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah paid tribute to Prof. Hashmat Lodi for his contributions in the fields of education, sports, and broadcasting at both the provincial and national levels for around 37 years, starting from the 1950s.
CM also ordered the Chairman of HEC to include SMIU in the Endowment Fund list to initiate the construction of another double-story building to address the space issue in comparison to the demand/admissions.
CM praised SMIU and expressed feeling honored to be in the institute founded by Hassan Ali Effendi, Alma mater of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto, Abdullah Haroon, and many other prominent personalities of the country.
