Ducky Bhai Sent to Jail on 14 Days Judicial Remand in Online Gambling Case

The Lahore court has sent Pakistani YouTuber Saad-ur-Rehman, also known as Ducky Bhai, to jail on a 14-day judicial remand in a case of promoting gambling apps and encouraging youth to invest in it.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) had arrested Ducky Bhai from Lahore Airport last month and taken him on physical remand for over 20 days. Now, a Lahore court has transferred Ducky from physical remand to judicial custody.

The NCCIA arrested Ducky Bhai at Lahore airport while he was leaving the country for another foreign country. Agency had been keeping an eye on Ducky for promoting gambling apps on his social media channels and also encouraging his audience to invest in these gambling apps.

The agency had blocked Ducky Bhai’s transactions worth millions of rupees that were made through gambling apps. Ducky’s family vlogs also include his wife Aroob Jatoi, on the basis of which the agency had also arrested her, but after some time Aroob Jatoi was granted bail.

In Ducky’s initial media interview, he said, “I made a huge mistake by promoting gambling apps, which are against both Sharia and legal law.”

“Gambling is openly promoted in Pakistan’s national sport like cricket, TV advertisements, etc., so I thought there would be no problem with it,” Ducky added.

Following Ducky’s arrest, the NCCIA has also sent written orders to more social media influencers in Pakistan such as Rajab Butt, Iqra Kanwal, Anas Ali, Nadeem Naniwala to appear in court today, September 9. Failure to appear will result in the decision being made in favor of the agency.

The agency has cracked down on all betting apps operating in Pakistan and ordered them to be blocked in Pakistan.
