Ex-Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Released from Israeli Prison, Landed in Jordan

Pakistan’s Deputy Minister Ishaq Dar has confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that former Jamaat-e-Islami senator Mushtaq Ahmed, who was in Israeli custody, released from prison and has safely arrived at the Pakistan Embassy in Amman, Jordan.

Mushtaq Ahmed, who had set sail for Gaza on boats carrying aid from Pakistan in the Sumud Flotilla, was arrested and imprisoned by Israel along with other international volunteers near Gaza.

The Pakistani ministry was under immense pressure from the public to somehow release Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mushtaq Ahmed from Israeli captivity and use him as a means of bringing him back to Pakistan.

Today, October 7, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar tweeted and confirmed that Mushtaq Ahmed Sahib has been taken to the Pakistan Embassy in Jordan, and the embassy will handle his return to Pakistan.
