Punjab Govt Appoints Rao Abdul Karim as New IG Police

The Punjab Government made a major change in police leadership by appointing Rao Abdul Karim as the IG Punjab, replacing Dr. Usman Anwar. The appointment decision was made on Monday as per several news reports.

Rao Abdul Karim was serving as the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Punjab, with a long career in policing, having held several prominent positions in the past.

In the field of police, he has served as Additional IG of the Patrol Police, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Gujranwala, DIG Training, and DIG Traffic Punjab. His experience as a leader, operational, and training roles is expected to strengthen the overall Punjab.

Although there is no official disclosure made regarding his appointment as an IG Punjab, sources confirmed that he already taken charge of the position.

Meanwhile, Dr. Usman Anwar, who has served as an IG for three years, is likely to be assigned with Federal level responsibility. The federal government has requested his services for an important position.

Some sources suggest that Dr. Usman Anwar would likely be appointed as Secretory Interior, or Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) due to his strong experience in federal institutions.
