Pakistan’s famous religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza has been arrested from Jhelum. The arrest has made on the basis of Section 3 Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) on the orders of the Deputy Commissioner of Jhelum.
According to the police statement, Engineer Ali Mirza’s activities may lead to disruption of public order or endanger public safety. On this basis, Ali Mirza has been taken into custody.
Mirza’s private religious academy in Jhelum City has also been sealed. In this academy, Mirza used to organize his daily religious lectures and host events.
Punjab Police has confirmed the arrest, but has not clarified the formal charges. It has only been stated that the arrest has been approved under the MPO Section 3.
Section 3 of the MPO defines the threat to public safety.
According to the police, Ali Mirza has been arrested on the orders of the Deputy Commissioner.
