Govt Sets Deadline for Outlets to Display Raast QR Codes on Counters

The Prime Minister’s Office has directed the federal and provincial governments of all cities in Pakistan to make it mandatory for all retail outlets across the country to display direct QR payments on their counters by August 31, 2025.

This payment strategy is to implement national digitization by the State Bank of Pakistan. Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Tauqir Ali Shah has informed all administrative stakeholders to implement this system in the country immediately.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the installation of a QR code should be made mandatory when issuing or renewing a business license. This is an excellent way to popularize this system among the business community as soon as possible.

Departments have been directed to set up enforcement mechanisms, and regulatory bodies are expected to work with banks, mobile money operators, and SBP-Institutions to facilitate smooth onboarding.
