On Saturday, 14 December, the world’s most influential singer of 2024, Diljit Dosanjh, announced in Chandigarh that he will not perform any new concerts in India. The reason behind this decision is the lack of adequate concert infrastructure available in India.
As Diljit is the most popular singer in India, with a huge fan following and large audiences, it is very challenging for every attendee to see him clearly during performances. He has expressed a preference for performing on a center stage in India to accommodate the high demand.
A video circulating on social media features Diljit’s statement during a concert: “I want to tell the designated authorities that India does not have the infrastructure for live shows.”
He refuses to perform at upcoming shows until the infrastructure is improved.
